VETERAN PROGRAMS
Horses For Healing began providing evidence-based equine therapy for veterans in 2013. Since then, our core service has remained clinical equine-assisted therapy, supporting veterans as they navigate trauma, anxiety, depression, and other mental health needs.
In 2018, we expanded to offer additional holistic, wraparound services that veterans can choose to include in their healing journey. These optional supports, like Ashva yoga (mat and horseback work), restorative yoga, mindfulness practices, trauma release therapy, acupuncture, and acudetox, are designed to complement therapy and help each client find what works best for them. These services are offered one-on-one in the barn setting or in our peaceful yoga studio.

Veterans
Horses For Healing, Inc. provides equine therapy and complementary services to veterans, whether or not they have insurance coverage. These services are made possible through funding from the State of New Mexico Veteran and Family Support Services and the Behavioral Health Services Division. Each year, this funding helps us serve more than 60 veterans and their families.

Our Approach
Equine therapy is provided by licensed clinical staff who are trained by the Department of Defense Center for Deployment Psychology in delivering Cognitive Processing Therapy for military populations. All our clinicians are trauma-trained and able to integrate a variety of evidence-based techniques and treatment models to meet each client’s unique needs.

Equine Therapy
We partner with horses in our work with military clients to help reduce PTSD, depression, anxiety, and other trauma-related challenges.
Horses For Healing was recognized by the State of New Mexico Behavioral Health Services Division, Family Services Division, as an Outstanding Mental Health Agency for our commitment to quality care.
